Strange Magic

by W Magazine Team

In her graphic paintings and epic films, the artist Sarah Morris has explored urban, social and bureaucratic typologies in mega-cities like Beijing and Rio. Her latest subject: France, in all its luxury-goods producing glory. In “Strange Magic,” a film commissioned for the opening of the Fondation Louis Vuitton, Morris deconstructs the machinery behind France’s cultural currency—namely fashion, fragrance and Champagne—not to mention its national identity.
