My name is Saoirse Ronan (laughs), right?
00:07
(laughs) Awesome. I think.
00:10
I was sent the script of Lady Bird about two years ago
00:13
and I never really read, especially a young female
00:17
sort of heroine like that before,
00:19
somebody who kind of very much sees themselves
00:22
as a female heroine.
00:23
You never see young girls actually like, love themselves
00:25
in films and she like, really believes in herself
00:28
so I was quite excited by that.
00:29
I had technically gone to a Catholic primary school
00:32
and very briefly went to a Catholic high school in Ireland.
00:36
I homeschooled a bit and it was more of an unusual
00:40
education to make it more unorthodox.
00:44
Even if I had been in a high school in Ireland,
00:46
the American high school culture is different.
00:49
So I think that whole idea of like, getting in
00:51
with the popular kids and all that sort of stuff,
00:53
it's more in the psyche over here.
00:56
The only time I had seen stuff like that was like,
00:58
in Saved by the Bell and stuff, so it was kind of
01:00
a dream for me to get to like, actually live that out.
01:03
Yes, I did have a locker.
01:05
I had a locker and we went to prom.
01:08
Oh my God, like, we would cry at the dance parties.
01:11
We'd have dance parties when we rehearsed like,

but we just danced for so long that like, we got really
01:20
emotional and yeah, she'd play a lot of music onset.
01:24
It's good to have music around because it kind of
01:27
subconsciously makes people move to the same beat
01:31
like, everyone starts to work to the same beat a little bit
01:35
and everyone has a rhythm that they follow onset.
01:38
Alanis Morissette was just what was always in my head.
01:41
I've always had a really kind of
01:43
special connection to Alanis Morissette.
01:46
She's one of those girls that's like, really feminine,
01:48
but also really cool and very strong and I felt like
01:51
if Lady Bird was gonna look up to anyone or listen

to anyone, it would be someone like her.

02:13
