I became Miss World, it was the year 2000,
I was 17 years old.
Just out of school, didn't know anything,
never walked on heels.
I still get scared thinking about what I felt that day.
I actually sang during my talent round, but I didn't win.
I sang Save The Best For Last by Vanessa Williams.
I was really bummed I didn't win, you know?
Some girl twirling some things won.
It blew my mind that I won Miss India, 'cause I was like,
the gawkiest teenager, I had no self-esteem.
I got really bullied when I was in school in America.
So that crushed my spirit a little bit more.
When I was a teenager I used to have, I was a tomboy,
so I had scars and I was always falling on my knees,
and you know, they were not the prettiest legs in the world.
And then I taught myself how to take care of my body.
Anybody can do it if I can.
And today my legs sell like
12 or 15 products, you know?
In my part of the world, yeah they do. (laughing)
I didn't even know that acting
could be a serious profession.
'Cause I was that Indian girl you know,
who sits front bench, always knows the answer.
Comes first in class, honor student.
And I wanted to be an aeronautical engineer.
I wanted to be in NASA, build planes, and it's so ironic
that I just literally live in one now.
Yeah Jerry Maguire, actually. (laughing)
You had me at hello!
I mean she just like busted his chops as soon as he said
that whole speech and everything, and she's like,
honey you didn't have to say anything else,
you had me at hello.
Oh, I don't crush on people, they crush on me.
Well I love Tom Hardy.
He's beautiful, he's an actor, he's just,
what was that movie with Reese Witherspoon that he did?
(laughing) He was really cute and shirtless. (laughing)
But that wasn't the reason why I like him!
I like him for his art.
Please, everyone should know that.
I cry in Book of Life, I'll cry in Finding Nemo.
Star Wars made me cry.
That poor little robot, and he couldn't find his dad.
It just made me cry. (laughing)
Royalty I really feel is not something you're born into,
that you are.
It's a certain quality that when you walk into a room
people look, or they just need to turn.
And that's when you're really blue blooded.
I love strong, tough women, you know?
Women who live life on their own terms and
I would say, Jennifer Lawrence,
I adore her, Rihanna
just 'cause she's so, doesn't give a shit.
I love that about her.
