(Tricky by Bad Girlfriend)
00:11
I started drawing the women in 2009.
00:14
Some artists have this great ability
00:17
to do a lot of different things but have all of the work
00:20
feel like it's coming from one place.
00:22
And I never had that.
00:23
So, once I made the decision to focus on women
00:27
and then to vary the style of them as much as I could,
00:30
I found that I could put everything I had learned
00:34
or cared about aesthetically into the drawings.
00:37
And I actually ended up having more freedom that way.
00:46
I used to be really precious.
00:48
I just learned through trial and error
00:50
that the only time anything happens
00:51
is when you move your hand.
00:53
So, why not move your hand
00:55
with more confidence, like boxing.
00:58
I feel like if it doesn't feel like
01:00
I'm about to get my ass kicked in here
01:02
that I'm not making anything that matters.
01:11
My experience in life,
01:13
has always been, you fail and then you fail
01:17
and then you kind of fail and then you emotionally fail.
01:20
There's a series of failures.
01:23
And then you start to figure it out.
