My name is Callan Stokes
00:02
and I'm a costume designer.
00:05
I first met Alex
00:08
through her sister Vanessa
00:11
'cause Vanessa and I went to high school together.
00:13
We started doing small shoots,
00:15
and then they just have progressively been getting bigger
00:18
and bigger and bigger.
00:20
(laughs)
00:22
A lot goes into preparing for a Prager shoot.
00:25
A process of first getting
00:28
the idea of what the look is from Alex.
00:32
We meet at costume houses
00:34
throughout Los Angeles and thrift stores,
00:37
and I come up with fun outfits and ideas.
00:41
She is very hands-on.
00:44
My personal process for preparing for shoots like this
00:48
is just really
00:49
getting a lot of great references
00:53
and also being able to understand exactly
00:57
what the communication is behind each person that's in it
01:01
because there should be some kind of story
01:03
that I'm telling through their clothes.
01:06
So today,
01:07
we're gonna be going to cool places
01:09
that I go to do rentals from.
01:13
And then,
01:14
we're gonna go to the real fun places.
01:18
We might go to Sunland,
01:20
an area outside L.A.
01:21
that's a little run down,
01:24
kind of smelly,
01:25
it's a lot of digging.
01:26
And that is a skill of mine
01:28
that I've developed over the years
01:31
and that people actually acknowledge,
01:33
but worth it if you find some great stuff.
