[Interviewer] What was your favorite birthday?
My favorite birthday, well I have two.
One was when I was about six,
there was a dessert I really wanted.
My mom made it for me, and it was Baked Alaska.
They brought it into the dining room,
and I was just, I could not believe that
my mom had made me that cake,
and it was, you know, in flames and it was
so beautiful, and I was so stunned by it,
and how magical it was.
And all my friends' faces.
The other one was when I was 39,
I was going to kind of a,
you know I had like a breakup,
and I was sad and um, but I was coming out of it,
and I came home.
I had decided actually to give myself a party
for my thirty-ninth birthday,
so I called all my friends.
One of my friends took me out to like a spa
or whatever during the day,
and we came back and my house was very dark.
And I was like, looked in the kitchen,
it looked like there were all these bundles,
like someone had packed all these clothes into piles
on the floor, and I walked in,
and it was a surprise party,
which was hilarious because I finally decided
to give myself a party.
Unbeknownst to me, my friends and family
had planned this surprise party for me,
and there were like forty people,
and they were all the people I had called,
so they were really really confused
'cause they weren't sure, was I calling about the,
did I know about the surprise party?
Anyway, so that was.
And you were genuinely surprised?
Oh my. I thought I was gonna have a heart attack.
I mean, it was.
And I'm not someone, I would never think
I would like a surprise party,
and I don't think I ever want one again, ever,
but it was very, um, very sweet.
