00:14
[Marvin] Like a friend and well wishers in the audience.
00:19
In fact, here come a couple of lovely lovely ladies
00:21
who are bringing me something up on the stage.
00:24
(applause)
00:25
Oh, hello, darling.
00:27
Wait a minute.
00:28
Give me a sugar.
00:33
I know them, too.
00:35
Thank you so much.
00:37
Oh wow wait.
00:38
This can get, this can get
00:40
(laughs)
00:41
Thank you, though.
00:44
Thank you, thank you.
00:46
I love you so much.
00:51
♫ I just want to show you all my love
00:54
♫ All my love
00:56
♫ All the love I feel for you baby
01:02
♫ Let's get it on
01:06
♫ Come close to me
01:12
♫ Just dance with me here nice and slow
01:16
(applause)
01:23
(disco music)
01:29
[Bruce] Recently I was backstage at a fashion show
01:33
and there was a sign that read Fashion is not funny.
01:38
I always thought fashion was funny.
01:40
And fun.
01:42
You know, it's so crazy these days.
01:45
All these young rebels that I'm photographing.
01:48
They're so afraid to be nude in a picture.
01:50
They have to go and ask their grandmother
01:53
who lives maybe halfway around the world for her permission.
01:57
A lot of girls say to me that they can't be topless
02:00
unless they first ask their girlfriends.
02:04
And a lot of boys say to me that they can't go
02:06
solely nude because they first have to ask their boyfriends.
02:10
Let me tell you a little secret.
02:13
This film I'm making right now
02:14
was originally going to be called
02:17
If You Don't Want to Be Nude, Wear a Suit.
02:21
And, in fact, this is the first film I've ever made
02:24
without my dogs and Elizabeth Taylor.
02:27
Now they don't have a problem about being nude.
02:30
They have what one calls the natural swagger of life.
02:35
Even if they're wearing a lot of clothes.
02:38
But you're going to see some of my new pals
02:40
and you're going to hear some music from my
02:42
Champion of Soul Marvin Gaye.
02:46
And yes, you're going to see some footage on Bunny Yeager.
02:50
She's one of my favorite photographers
02:52
and she's real pretty.
02:57
♫ Come on baby let's go peace loving
03:00
♫ And check out this new smoke
03:03
♫ This thing I've got
03:05
[Marvin] Well I think that
03:06
I'm not going to pretend I'm a saint.
03:09
Or a monk or anything.
03:12
But I am what I am and I think as a whole individual
03:18
one should express what one feels
03:21
and what one feels inside one's soul as an artist.
03:26
And I just try and express life as I see it
03:30
and certainly sensuality and sex is a great part
03:33
of our lives.
03:34
We don't like to speak of it too often.
03:37
It seems better if it's done quietly.
03:41
♫ I know y'all gonna have a ball
03:44
♫ But hey little miss birdsong
03:47
♫ Come here
03:49
♫ Yeah you, follow me
03:50
♫ Now stop.
03:52
Look, Terri.
03:53
Let me talk frankly with you.
03:55
You and I could make a lot of money together.
03:57
You mean by me posing nude for you?
04:00
What's wrong with that?
04:01
You've seen my pictures.
04:03
Is there anything wrong with any of them?
04:06
Well, no, but I never thought of me doing it.
04:10
Besides, my boyfriend would have a fit.
04:12
Joe, I'm frustrated.
04:14
I want to take that modeling job so we can get married.
04:17
Okay, suppose I said go ahead and do it.
04:20
What do you think our friends would say?
04:22
And how about your girlfriends?
04:23
I'll bet they'll have a thing or two to say.
04:25
Let them.
04:26
There isn't one of them who wouldn't do the same thing
04:28
if they had anything to show.
04:30
[Bunny] Each shot made me more enthused and hopeful
04:32
of winning the big prize.
04:35
While studio lights give the best all around controls,
04:38
it can't match the sparkle of sunlight.
04:41
I was taking a chance
04:42
but it looked like it was going to be worth it.
04:48
You're beautiful.
04:50
Is this what I made all the noise about?
04:53
Why, there's nothing lewd about these pictures at all.
04:56
You mean it's alright?
04:58
Sure, these are fine.
05:00
♫ If this world were mine
05:04
[Bruce] These women in Bunny's photographs
05:07
were just girls from her neighborhood.
05:09
♫ All that I own
05:14
They seem to be inviting you in and saying
05:17
Hey, look at me,
05:19
and Enjoy what you see,
05:20
and Be proud of what you feel.
05:27
There's a tenderness there,
05:29
like a newborn baby.
05:31
An intimacy that jumps out at you and grabs your hand.
05:42
And if you're lucky,
05:44
brings you into her world of letting go.
05:52
♫ Ain't nothing like the real thing baby
06:01
♫ Aint nothing like the real thing
06:07
♫ I've got your picture hanging on the wall
06:12
♫ It can't see or come to me when I call
06:21
♫ I realize it's just a picture in a frame
06:29
♫ I read your letters when you're not near
06:34
♫ But they don't move
06:36
♫ They don't groove me
06:39
♫ Like when I hear
06:42
♫ Your sweet voice whispering in my ear
06:53
♫ Ain't nothing like the real thing baby
07:02
[Bruce] A friend of mine, Kris Kristofferson,
07:04
once wrote these lyrics.
07:06
His song Me and Bobby McGee.
07:10
Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose.
07:14
Nothing.
07:15
It don't mean nothing, honey.
07:17
If it ain't free.
07:19
♫ Aint nothing like the real thing
07:26
♫ Oh baby
