The first time you come to Sundance is really exciting
00:08
'cause you have no idea what to expect.
00:09
The minute we landed, we got off the plane,
00:11
and we were just like swarmed by photographers.
00:15
They were like rabbits.
00:16
They just like multiplied out of thin air.
00:18
I came here once before,
00:20
probably about twelve years ago, in my early days of CNN.
00:22
It's an interesting experience.
00:24
I don't quite get what everyone's doing.
00:25
There's a lot of hipsters walking around.
00:26
I don't even know if they're going to films.
00:27
They just seem to be walking around
00:29
and having coffee and being hip.
00:32
My first time at Sundance, I remember
00:33
just having so much fun, just being young
00:35
and running around and feeling a lot more
00:38
like carefree than it feels now.
00:41
Every time I come to Sundance, all hell break loose.
00:43
I always have some kind of mishap, I break my foot,
00:46
I have a migraine, I have a panic attack,
00:48
I have an asthma attack, and I don't sleep.
00:50
I think it's the altitude. It doesn't do well to my brain.
00:53
This is my first time at Sundance.
00:54
I wish I hadn't been suddenly warned about altitude sickness
00:57
because I made myself feel very unwell
00:59
just in LA, hearing about it.
01:02
The first film I went was Baghead and I came here
01:06
and I think I was sleeping on someone's floor.
01:10
My first Sundance, I had this terrible experience
01:13
when I first showed the film in a public screening
01:16
and I was in the back of the house,
01:17
and the film started to go,
01:18
and I suddenly realized, oh my God,
01:20
I have to show this to complete strangers.
01:23
It hadn't really sunk in.
01:25
This is my first time in Sundance and it's amazing.
01:28
Feels very communal and quite accessible
01:30
in a kind of personal level.
01:31
That's what's really exciting to be a part of.
