Art & DesignArtist Alex Prager explains the film: “I wrote a script about a scientist who creates robots in his lover’s likeness. Their plan is to help society, but it all goes wrong. The scientist decides to destroy the robots, but they kill him and her instead and take off. I’ve been reading a lot about what’s going on in the world of artificial intelligence—the title *Uncanny Valley* refers to the unsettling feeling elicited by humanoid objects—and it’s not such a crazy scenario.”
Art & DesignArtist Shirin Neshat explains the film: “I was interested in how female singers are universally treated as objects of desire. At first, Cate looks gorgeous, but when she sings it’s a transgender's voice. The audience heckles her, and she becomes confrontational. When the music comes back on, she does a seductive dance but her face is evil. For her final act of subversion, she takes off her hair and makeup and walks away. That part was Cate’s idea. Fuck the beauty.”
Art & DesignLong before he got engaged to Paris Hilton, the actor Chris Zylka has been making art—though it's certainly taken a more playful turn since he started dating his fiancée. Ahead of their wedding later this year, the couple sit down in Hilton's New York apartment to talk Zylka's transition from darker paintings to photos of "the most gorgeous girl on the planet," plus their love for co-hosting "art nights."

Art & DesignAfter founding the Chicago Multi-Cultural Dance Center in 1981, Homer Bryant realized that by blending rap and ballet he might be able to get kids interested in dance, and thus Hiplet was born. In the two years since Homer Bryant first posted a video online of his students performing Hiplet, a dance movement that blends ballet on pointe with hip hop, it has become an all-out cultural phenomenon. “We’ve traveled all over the world and gotten over a billion views,” says Bryant.
Art & DesignInstead of a costume change, à la Peter Parker, Spider-Man: Homecoming star Laura Harrier gets away from all the big-screen drama by holing up in her ceramics studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Take a look inside, here.
Art & DesignBehold the magnificent creatures you find in the art world. To the untrained eye, they may all look the same, but look closer, and you’ll notice some rare, vivid organisms in fascinating styles of dress. We call them chameleons, and each year they gather for a spawning ritual known as Frieze New York, where we captured them in their natural habitat for our latest wildlife film.
BeautyOver the past few seasons, a number of models have seen their careers transformed by a well-timed haircut. There's no better example than Katie Moore, who has become a go-to model for Alexander Wang thanks to her edgy, bright red bob. Model Brii Hocutt, who moved to New York to pursue modeling in 2015, could be next: She's starting off 2017 with a radical makeover at the hands of celebrity hairstylist Garren, who transforms her long, faintly pink hair into a bold, blunt-cut bob.
