Met Gala 2024 Fashion: See Every Red Carpet Look
The first Monday in May has officially come and gone. The carpet has been removed from the famed Metropolitan Museum of Art steps, and the small army of fashion and beauty professionals who descended on the Upper East Side have gone home. Fashion’s biggest night—the 2024 Met Gala—is officially over. This year, the theme was “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” but princess-adjacent ball gowns and evil witches didn’t take over the red carpet. The phrase applied to historic dresses too old to be worn, which the exhibition is bringing back to life with the help of technology. On the red carpet, meanwhile, the dress code was “The Garden of Time,” based on a 1962 short story of the same title written by J.G. Ballard, so it wasn’t surprising when vines and flowers to crept their way onto the fashion of the evening.
But just as exciting as the clothes was the guest list itself. Co-hosts Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Lopez, and Zendaya led the parade of A-list stars, and while Rihanna was a no-show, we did get appearances from Dua Lipa, Sydney Sweeney, and Jennie Kim. In addition, the Met Gala regulars, like Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Kardashian made their mark on the carpet.
